The deadline to submit an application is December 1, 2023 (Priority will be given to the first 200 applicants).

The Adel A. Malak Scholarship offers veterinary students $15,000/year, for up to 4 years, towards tuition, books, tutors, and lab fees.  The scholarship recipient will be required to work at least 640 hours (paid employment) prior to graduation.  After graduation, the scholarship recipient must work for FSIS in a permanent appointment for at least 1 calendar year for each school year that the student was covered by the scholarship.  You may read more about the details of the scholarship here: https://www.fsis.usda.gov/sites/default/files/media_file/2020-08/Adel-A-Malak-Scholarship.pdf.      

Students are provided comprehensive mentorship and professional development while participating in the program. 

Eligibility:

1. Be a U.S. citizen;

2. Be enrolled full-time in a degree-seeking DVM program in an accredited veterinary college or university that is a registered entity in the System for Award Management;

3. Have completed not more than 2 full academic years of study in veterinary medicine;

4. Be in good academic standing;

5. Agree to work for FSIS’ OFO during school breaks for at least 640 hours prior to completion of studies.
