The Center for Animals and Public Policy announces a call for proposals for competitive grants available from the Elizabeth A. Lawrence Endowed Fund for community outreach and the advancement of the human- animal bond.  The impact of Dr. Lawrence, one of the Center’s founding faculty members, is reflected in the Cummings School’s emphasis on the human-animal bond in the curriculum and in campus-community activities.  The Elizabeth A. Lawrence Endowed Fund supports student-, staff- and faculty-run community outreach activities and research projects that advance the health and well-being of animals and people.  The review committee invites a broad range of project proposals and understands that work with many different kinds of species could potentially have an impact on the human-animal bond.

Campus groups and individuals are eligible to apply for a Lawrence Fund grant if the primary applicant (group or individual) is a faculty or staff member or student of the Cummings School.  The project or event for which you are seeking funding must also be based at or out of the school.  To apply for a Lawrence Fund grant please submit the following:

Awards can range up to $2,000, although higher amounts will be considered for particularly compelling projects.  Only completed applications will be considered.  Applications must be emailed to Virginia Shugrue (Virginia.shugrue@tufts.edu) no later than November 1, 2023.  Student applicants must include a letter of support from a faculty mentor with their application. After receiving recommendations from an outside review committee, the Center for Animals and Public Policy Advisory Board will review proposals, and awards will be announced by January 5, 2024.

Please contact the Center for Animals and Public Policy (capp@tufts.edu) if you have any questions or need additional information before completing your application.
