About this Event
Sherri Franklin, a long-time animal advocate and shelter volunteer, founded Muttville in 2007 to save the lives of the older dogs that were considered “unadoptable” and routinely euthanized in area shelters. Muttville is a San Francisco based rescue that reaches out to senior dogs at risk, gives them the care they need, and finds them loving forever homes. To date, Muttville has saved 11,285 dogs and counting!
Muttville’s cage-free facility, foster program, on-site veterinary suite, and hospice program are innovations that have been lauded and emulated around the country. Dr. Shari O'Neill, DVM, MPH, DACVPM and the veterinary team at Muttville will present on working with geriatric shelter dogs, the differences between types of shelters and the unique veterinary perspective that goes with hospice and palliative care in a shelter setting.
