Featuring Dr. Wen-Hsiang Chen of Baylor College of Medicine
With the imbalanced resources provided worldwide, diseases in the low- and mid- income countries (LMIC) are generally neglected and not well controlled. Texas Children’s Hospital Center for Vaccine Development has led and revolutionized national and international efforts in solving emerging pandemics, neglected tropical diseases, and other threats to global health. Dr. Chen, a scientist working in TCH-CVD for over a decade, focuses on utilizing microbial expression systems to develop subunit vaccines against neglected and emerging diseases for LMIC. He will present the development work for vaccines against schistosomiasis, coronaviruses, and tickborne diseases conducted in the vaccine center.
