As part of our International Veterinary Medicine Program, Associate Professor of IDGH Dr. Hellen Amuguni will be presenting "One Health as an integrative platform for nurturing Global Health Leaders"

One Health is more than a collaborative approach to disease prevention—it is an integrative platform for shaping the next generation of global health leaders. By bringing together human, animal, and environmental health disciplines, One Health cultivates systems thinking, cross-sectoral collaboration, and cultural competency—essential traits for leadership in a complex, interconnected world. I will share some of my experiences to create interdisciplinary thinkers, community engaged practitioners, equity driven change makers and policy makers and influencers. Embedding leadership development into One Health programs—whether through field training, policy engagement, or global partnerships— fosters a new cadre of leaders who are not only technically skilled but also ethically grounded and globally connected. This integrative approach is essential for advancing health equity, strengthening systems, and preventing the next pandemic.
