Presentation about the career path of laboratory animal medicine sponsored by the professional development committee and by Zoetis.
Dr. Sheba Churchill earned a B.S. in Zoology from North Carolina State University (NCSU), and later a DVM from the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Churchill served the community as an associate veterinarian at a small animal clinic in eastern North Carolina. She later worked as a public health veterinarian with the United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service before joining the Division of Translational Toxicology(DTT) at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) as a postdoctoral fellow in laboratory animal medicine. In 2016, she became a Diplomate of the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. Since 2017, she has served as a staff veterinarian with Charles River Laboratories’ Safety Assessment division, contracted to the Division of Translational Toxicology of NIEHS. She is currently pursuing a master’s in Animal Welfare and Behavior at the University of Pennsylvania. In her free time, she enjoys reading and visiting museums with her 5- and 8-year-old.
